Incentives
South Africa offers a foreign film and television production and post production incentive grant if the qualifying criteria are met. The incentive is calculated at 25% of South African production expenditure. The minimum budget for South African costs must be ZAR 15 million, at least 50% of the principal photography must be in SA, and at least 21 days of principal photography must be in SA. Eligible production formats are feature films, television series, and documentaries. Production formats which do not qualify are reality television, talk shows, news and current affairs, music videos, soap operas/telenovelas, and adult content.
